In regards to that scientist funding meme I'm currently reading a book by Paul Brodeur (the journalist who warned folks about asbestos) about scientists doing research on the effects of non-native EMFs on our biology more specifically those from our power grid.
At every turn "Scientists" deployed by power companies would come in wreck their efforts. Most "Science" is a result of money.
Paraphrasing...this reminds me of Phillip K Dick's idea that God is a cosmic high-ERA relief pitcher on a 2nd tier minor league baseball team (that's always at the bottom of its conference) desperately trying to make it to the majors but never quite managing to develop the necessary skills/technique..."It's Always Something" (promo code one of Gilda Radner's characters...Roseanne Rosannadannah, I think).
I personally believe that God didn’t know what He was getting Himself into when He created beings with Free Will. He’s spent the last few millennia trying to figure out how to keep us from destroying ourselves. Even giving us His spirit in our hearts has only gone so far. Looks like it’s time for the next attempt. 😁

Nice! I have to take issue with the pregnant woman on the bus though. Women have pushed a lot of men into this mindset. Although I would give up my seat in a heartbeat, I have personally been berated by younger women for holding open a door for them, something I do habitually. Older women are always thankful but I've had 20 somethings chew me out and say really nasty things. Lol, my favorite was the one who said, "F you, I can open my own F'n door F face!" in front of my ten year old son. "Sheesh, bad day?", was all I could manage to reply. Sadly, I think twice now before opening or holding a door for women, and I can only imagine what lesson my young son, future man, took from that. Could he be one of those guys on the bus? If being a gentleman is seen as a sign of the dreaded patriarchy, what to do?
I still raise my boys to hold the door for ladies. I don't care who it offends.
I'm sorry that young women today have conflated chivalry with misogyny. These women will miss out on the lovely experience of graciously appreciating small acts of kindness...and respect. It's unfortunate, and I'm sorry hear that you've been at the end of their misplaced "power".
It's all upside down and backwards. Women and men are not the same. We are not equal. One is not better, and neither can exist without the other. There are distinct, fundamental differences that cannot be equated, no matter how hard the evil ones try make it so.

Exactly my thoughts. I would hope my boys never fail to give a woman a seat, especially a pregnant one. Holy cow! I once heard one of my sons calling his fiancèe "dude". He got an earful and he won't make that mistake around me again, lol. We've talked before, so I know you're doing a great job with your boys and I wasn't implicating you in my comment. We've at least carved out our little corner of sanity, eh? I love your comments on Sage's stack, and I've read your stack from time to time but I just realized I never subscribed. I just did. Excellent writing, and I love your wit. I subscribe to more stacks than I can pay for so I rotate paying subscriptions around. I'll get you next month. Merry Christmas!
I knew your comments weren't directed at me...and I appreciate the sentiments.
I thought you were subscribed...glad to know we got that cleared up.
Thank you for your kind words.
I never expected anyone to pay for my work...and I'm humbled that anyone feels compelled to do so, but I never expect it. Nor do I harbor any ill will toward folks that don't feel so inclined. There are many writers on Substack that depend on this as a source, or perhaps THE source, of income...I am fortunate to have my studio, and fortunate that it survived the Not Pandemic...
I use all the money I make here to support others that are fighting the good fight. It's not much, but I just don't have much ability to contribute monetarily here. I never considered that anyone would pay for my writing, so it's kind of found money. It feels right to pay it forward, so that's what I do.
I appreciate you, Don...I always enjoy your thoughts. Glad you're subscribed now :)
You're too humble, lol. I'm doing the same, paying it forward, just to you. 😁 I appreciate your research that I don't have time or the inclination to do.
Oh I really enjoyed that, thanks. My fave is Far off is where you should Fuck off to, yeah and all your mealy-mouthed, wokeist bender buddies too, oh yeah and all the transhumanists, join that line too.
Thanks for the laugh! We all need it these days. Truth and humor! Brilliant.
My fave is that housewife's to-do list. Everyday feels like that.
💪🏼💪🏼
Happy to be making to-do lists with you, Joanie :)

L-shaped ambushes and snipers on ridges…
