I’m going to talk about a particular aspect concerning the inversion fuckery of our current reality that I really struggle with. What got me thinking about it was Jennifer Bilek’s Stack (thank you Mary Kay) and Amazing Polly’s podcast (thank you Cynthia).

This can be a touchy subject, although I anticipate the touchiness to be less so here. I have been privy to how deeply committed folks can be to this issue, so I’m aware of the nasty hive into which I may be stepping (pretty glad I don’t live in Kanada). I understand that, by saying anything contrary to what has been deemed the acceptable narrative, opens me to regard as hateful, phobic, and anti [insert something benevolent here, but usually not God].

opposed to or against a particular thing or person.

I grew up in a relatively liberal, small town. My dad was liberal until he wasn’t anymore, and then he was very conservative. My mom was lib.er.al. So I supposed I’m a bit of a mixed bag.

I remember hearing stories of my grandmother wearing pants and becoming a pilot. And that was a big f’n deal. And I felt proud about it.

I’ve never considered myself to be in disagreement with the basic premises of feminism, however I’ve also never felt particularly inclined to be vocal about, or participatory in, “the feminist movement”. I suppose that just by saying this, I have already lodged myself squarely within the patriarchy, and thus am part of the problem. So….ok fine. But that argument sort of slams the door on any conversation and frankly, I find it lazy.

FEMINISM

the belief that women should be allowed the same rights, power, and opportunities as men and be treated in the same way, or the set of activities intended to achieve this state.

I suppose we can call this traditional feminism now…(?) The previous images are reminiscent of what I considered “feminism” before it became an inverted mockery of its original intentions.

Women fought for their rights.

They fought to reject long held biases, double standards, and stigmas about what it meant to be a “good woman”. They fought for equality.

And here’s where I am probably going to get some pushback.

Women and men are not equal. They just aren’t. And this is not an argument about which one is better…this is just a statement of OBSERVABLE FACT.

Woman and men.

ARE. NOT. EQUAL.

There are concrete differences between the sexes which, despite impressive acrobatics of thought, CANNOT be ignored.

At this point, I could start linking to proof of these OBSERVABLE FACTS, but I’m not going to do that. I’m just going to move forward with a basic assumption about FUNDAMENTAL BIOLOGY that very nearly 100% of the time, human babies are born with the abundantly obvious biological traits of one sex or the other, two choices: Male or female. That’s it. Nobody “does their best job guessing about it”. Men have penises and women have vaginas.

Feminism fought for women’s (and their vaginas’) legal and equal rights in society. Many women fought very hard for these rights, for which I am grateful.

I love voting (well…never mind). And pants. I do love pants.

We have drifted far from this fight. If this were skydive, our lines are twisted and we’re having a hard time chopping that shit away. And it’s looking like we may not have time to deploy our reserve.

Because somewhere along the way it stopped being ok to define a woman. And if men dressed up in stereotypes and just mansplained their womanhood, with some lipstick and a pushup bra, then they are. And if you don’t agree, you’re transphobic and anti-woman.

So ladies, shut the fuck up and get back in the kitchen of acceptance. By the way, I hope you’re barefoot in there. A good woman will have dinner on the table and her profile frame changed to Trans Live Matter. And she’ll keep her phobic mouth shut about the indoctrination of her children, if she knows what’s good for her.

Do you think that this is what our grandmothers had in mind when they were marching for our right to vote?

Let’s try calling it what it is and see how it sounds.

I don’t give A FUCK. THIS IS NOT NORMAL. Do you see the tube???? And let me be crystal clear…I had a terribly hard time nursing my first baby, and used one of these. They are called supplemental nursing devices. And I’m glad they exist because it helped me successfully nurse my first baby when I had no idea what I was doing. But it’s not natural. Especially when it’s used against a non-lactating nipple that belongs to a man.

So, where is the line? Just curious. Because it really isn’t clear.

We are in a very grey area, folks. And there are laws being passed that should be noted. They are coming for our kids. And they want the parents out of the conversation.
